Toledo Barrel-Shaped Space Frame Coal Storage Shed in the Philippines
A magnificent “rainbow” has been woven by the builders and now stands proudly on Philippine soil.
The Toledo Barrel-Shaped Space Frame Coal Storage Shed project in the Philippines, constructed by LFBJMF, has garnered significant attention since its initial planning as a vital energy support facility in the region.
This project serves as a supporting facility for a private power plant, located within the TIPCO Industrial Park in the Philippines, and stands as a key node in the local energy infrastructure development.
The project was strictly manufactured in accordance with Chinese standards, designed for a service life of up to 50 years, and boasts excellent durability and safety. The project’s core parameters are impressive: the coal yard space frame spans 88 meters (44m × 2), with a frame height of 24.05 meters and a foundation height of 11.0 meters. To address the complex local natural environment, the project was designed to high standards, capable of withstanding Category II winds (200 km/h) and Category 4 earthquakes (Z=0.4); For corrosion protection and building envelope, the space frame surface employs hot-dip galvanizing (or zinc spraying) to ensure corrosion resistance, while the roof utilizes colored steel sheets (SMP coating) combined with FRP materials to facilitate natural lighting, balancing practicality with environmental sustainability.
Upon completion, the project has yielded significant results, effectively reducing dust pollution from the coal yard and clearly separating the coal storage area from the main production zone within the power plant, thereby meeting regulatory requirements for “separating clean and contaminated zones.” At the same time, it effectively minimizes coal loss caused by rainwater runoff and high winds, significantly reducing the impact on the plant premises and the surrounding environment. As a critical supporting facility for the on-site power plant, the commissioning of this storage shed will further ensure the plant’s stable operation, help alleviate regional energy supply pressures, and effectively enhance the reliability of industrial power supply and the quality of residential electricity in the local area.
The successful completion of the Toledo Barrel-Shaped Space Frame Coal Storage Shed project in the Philippines not only demonstrates the reliability of Chinese standards in overseas engineering projects but also provides the construction contractor, LFBJMF, with valuable practical experience in overseas projects. It has further refined the company’s overseas project management model, enhanced its capabilities in international project operations, and laid a solid foundation for further penetrating the overseas engineering market and expanding new business growth opportunities.
