What is double-layer laminated glass? A detailed look at processing and applications

图片
Double-layer laminated glass—also known simply as laminated glass—is a composite product formed by sandwiching one or more layers of organic polymer interlayers between two or more sheets of glass. Through specialized high-temperature pre-pressing and high-temperature, high-pressure processing, the glass and interlayers are bonded into a single, integrated unit. Common interlayer materials include PVB (polyvinyl butyral), SGP (ionoplast interlayer), EVA (ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer), and PU (polyurethane). These interlayers are characterized by transparency, elasticity, strong adhesion, and excellent penetration resistance. Even if the glass breaks, the fragments adhere to the interlayer, keeping the broken surface neat and smooth; this effectively prevents injuries from sharp shards and accidents involving falling glass. Production Methods: 1) Film Heat-Pressing Method (Dry Method): Glass sheets and interlayers are stacked in sequence and placed in an autoclave. They undergo heat...
