Maintenance Tips for Grid Roofs After Operation

 1. Do not place heavy objects on any part of the grid roof.

Because grid structures are designed based on the required loads, the specifications of the members and joints are determined based on the specified design loads. Therefore, placing heavy objects exceeding the design requirements during operation is strictly prohibited. This will cause irreversible damage to the grid structure.

2. Regularly perform corrosion protection during operation.

The general design life of grid structures is 50 years. Damage from excessive loads during operation is rare. Most damage is caused by rust, which significantly reduces the cross-section of grid members and significantly reduces their mechanical and physical properties.

3.The exterior paint protection of the grid structure must meet the requirements of its operation.

Generally, maintenance is required every three years. Clean the surface of dust, rust, and other contaminants before repainting. Maintenance Methods for Grid Coatings:

(1)Keep the steel structure surface clean and dry, and regularly clean areas prone to dust accumulation.

(2)Regularly inspect the condition of the grid coating. Any of the following conditions warrant prompt maintenance:

The coating surface is glossy (90% or more);

The coating surface is rough, weathered, or cracked (25% or more);

The coating film is bulging and components are slightly rusted (40% or more).

4. Minimize contact between components and corrosive substances.

The type and specification of paint used for coating maintenance should be the same as the original paint. Incompatible paints can cause greater damage. Therefore, grids require regular and planned maintenance during use.
