The steel dome of the prayer hall of the Great Mosque of Jama
In the past 30 years, various large span space steel structures have been developed rapidly at home and abroad. As nodes play a crucial role in space structure, scholars have developed different types of space nodes to adapt to different structural forms and stress requirements. Common space joint types include welded hollow ball joint, bolted ball joint, cast steel joint, bolted ball column joint, end plate joint and so on. Due to the high cost of labor and inspection, field welding is rarely used in foreign projects, and bolts are used to connect most nodes. The main node of the steel structure of the prayer hall dome of the Great Mosque in Gama, Algeria, is prefabricated in the factory with joint domains and rods and connected with end-plates by high-strength bolts on site.
The Great Mosque of Jiama is located on the central axis of Algiers, the capital of Algeria, beside the Mediterranean Sea, with a construction area of 400,000 square meters. The minaret is the tallest building in the great Mosque complex, with a height of 265 meters. It is the largest minaret in the world. Underground 2 layers, height 5.8 meters, single layer area of 2380 square meters. Vertical for the super-thick shear wall structure, the maximum thickness of the shear wall is 1.5 meters. It is the tallest and largest building in Africa and will be the third-largest mosque in the world.
The prayer hall dome of Jama Mosque dome adopts a space steel arch structure system. The six main arches of the dome intersect at the same node, which has complex force and plays an important role in the force transmission of the structure.
